Open Door

I’ve been to many places.
I’ve been to places
where violence is the rule
and you can’t leave
where doors were shut closed.

A time and place when looking
out the window
and seeing freedom was a far fetched dream.

I’ve been to places where it’s
easy to get into but hard to get out of.
The doors were shut closed.

I’ve been to places
where the people are angry as hell.
They scream and they yell.
And you can’t leave.
The doors were shut closed.

I’ve been to places
where violence is the norm
and harsh words are followed
by hard blows.
And I couldn’t leave.
The doors were shut closed.

That was then.
This is now.

Now I’m in a place
where healing takes place
where I find it easy to put a
smile on my face.
Now I’m in a place where
I’m spoken to with loving care
where we share and smile
This is where I am.
Being still.
I don’t want to leave
cuz love keeps coming through
the
Open Door.
